I have the possibility of owning a Microsoft Surface. It's clearly not possible to install apps downloaded from the Internet. But is it still possible to launch executables stored on an SD card or USB stick, such as with PortableApps? edit: My question isn't intended strictly limited to portableApps, but any ARM-compiled non-Store software. Is it the origin of the software, or some other mechanism of the OS that prevents executables from running?
To get started, simply jump to the RTse7enLite downloads page and download the according 32 or 64-bit version. Once the download is complete, proceed to install the program onto your PC as you would any other app.

Actually.........it may or may not work since you have Windows 8 product key. Microsoft doesn't seem to want anyone using Windows 8. But it would be safer to do what Saranji suggested and wait for windows 10.

While it's generally a very easy thing to do, the utility can run into problems if you upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. This is because the upgrade doesn't refresh the files that Windows needs to restore factory default settings - annoying, huh? Fortunately, Microsoft has made it fairly straightforward to download and create your own Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 installation discs, so that you can get round this step. Of course, our guide tells you how. First, before you start, make sure that you have a backup of your computer and data, as following these instructions could delete everything from your computer.
